Gardening Advice Tip Questions

I'm still learning to grow my own flower garden and I'm really wanting a beautiful garden when Spring rolls around. Any good tips and advice to give me? I'd like some advice on watering, what to plant, when to plant, where to plant, the best plant food, and how to keep animals from eating my flowers! Thank you! Also - I'd like to know how to repair my lawn. Recently, my grass has been dying because of lack of sunlight due to my trees. Is there any way to get a nice, vibrant green lawn that I can be proud of, too?

my garden is very very large its like a farm maybe a bit bigger me and my boyfriend moved there 2 months ago and want to start work on it

What sort of soil would you use? What sort of fertilizer is advisable? Any general advice? Thanks!

I live in Montana, and I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of fruits and veggies would I be able to grow in my area? Also, if anyone had any gardening tips that would be great! I am planing on growing strawberries and rasberries (any tips on those), but if anyone knew of some others that could grow here that would be great. This is our first time growing a garden, any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.

im looking to start a garden. i have not a clue what im doing but im going to try it out. need a hobby. ive been reading books and watching some gardening shows. i started this weekend by shoveling the spot that i want to have the garden. i bought a few tomato plants and a few pepper plants but havent planted them yet. just looking for any advice or tips on how to make this an easy painless experience starting out.

Hi there - we have a rather large garden of about 100 foot long (maybe a bit more!) by approx 25 / 30 foot wide. Since we moved in we have not done a great deal and aside from cutting everything back and tidying it up we think the next place to work on is leveling it out. The garden is on a slight slope downwards but the main issue is its VERY uneven. My neighbour tells me she had a man rotorvate her garden and they have been left with quite an even lawn. this cost quite a bit though and we would rather do manual stuff ourselves and spend money on the extras like decking / paving and so on! Therefore, it would be good if anyone can share any tips or advice as we don't know what we would need to do - ie do we need to remove the grass first? other tools we may need? approx timescale ie 1 solid week (7 days) we can hire a rotorvator for about £80 p/w which by the looks of it is about the same size as an ordinary lawn mower. will this be sufficient or would we need industrial?? thx

yeah i was just wondering if i might miss something important

Hello. I need a little help from all you gardeners out there. I bought about 10 herbs from the local nursery the other day and planted them in the appropriate sized pots. I was just wondering if anybody had any tips for caring for them. I live in south Louisiana if that makes a difference. Also, the pots are outside. I had a small herb garden once before and killed them all. So I was just looking for a little advice so that this doesn't happen again! Thanks!

Hey all... This is my first year to start a veggie garden. So far, I have a couple tomato plants, and some strawberry plants. But.. I'm getting ready to plant a variety.. I have a few more tomato plants, 4 squash, 10 watermelon, 4 cucumber, 1 Habanero, 4 Jalapeno, 4 bell pepper, 4 broccoli, 4 cauliflower... And then all of the above in seeds, plus cabbage, corn, radish, carrot, cantaloupe, spinach, lettuce, peas, beans, brussell sprouts, pumpkin, sunflower, and a few others. Of these, do any do well in partial shade? Is it too late or early to plant any of these? Any of these need special care/more difficult to grow? Just any advice from experience veggie gardeners would be appreciated!! Thanks =) Zone 6 - Southwestern Virginia
